The Quest for Fresh

The summer heat has got us thinking a bit more about our beach bods this year, and if you’re like many of us, you’ll be incorporating a few more salads and fruit bowls into your diet. Oftentimes finding fresh produce at the grocery store can be a tricky task. Instead, might we suggest trying one of these farmers markets.

Larimer County Farmers Market

The Larimer County Farmers Market has been up and running every summer since 1975 and has been a community favorite since. It’s managed by Colorado State University and welcomes around 100 local vendors each season. Find fresh produce, flowers, coffee beans, and much more at this Saturday-only market.

  • Saturdays from 9:00am to 1:00pm
    • Larimer County Courthouse Parking Lot

Fort Collins Farmers Market

Another great option for fresh and reliable produce is the Fort Collins Farmers Market on Harmony Road. Associated with the Colorado Agricultural Marketing Cooperative (CAMC), its focus is on preserving the lifestyle of local farmers and agriculture. Stop by and let local farmers teach you something new about their industry.

  • Wednesdays and Sundays, rain or shine, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
    • 1001 E Harmony Road

Main Street Market

Just a short 20-minute drive north of Fort Collins you’ll find Wellington, the host of the Main Street Market. Held in the beautiful Centennial Park, vendors from all over NoCo gather to sell their produce and crafts. This event is held in the evening, so stop by after you’ve finished exploring downtown Wellington.

  • Thursdays from 4:30 pm to 7:30pm
    • Centennial Park in Wellington

Boulder Farmers Market

The hour drive from Fort Collins is worth it for the Boulder Farmers Market. Imagine a festival-like atmosphere, the babblings of Boulder Creek fill your ears, you’ve filled your belly with an orchards-worth of samples — a truly blissful experience. Plan a Saturday trip to see for yourself what all the fuss is about.

  • Saturdays, 8:00am to 2:00pm and Wednesdays, 4:00pm to 8:00pm
    • 13th St. from Arapahoe Avenue to Canyon Blvd in Boulder

Colorado Fresh Market at Cherry Creek

If Boulder were not quite far enough, fifteen minutes more will find you at the Colorado Fresh Cherry Creek Market. One of Denver’s biggest farmers’ markets, Colorado Fresh offers no shortage of provisions. With food trucks, live music, fresh flowers, and a plethora of local produce options, this open-air market is reason enough to brave the big-city hurdles.

  • Saturdays, 9:00am to 2:00pm and Wednesdays, 9:00am to 1:00pm
    • Cherry Creek Shopping Center in Denver

Front Range Fresh

Finding quality produce to fill your body with the good stuff isn’t that difficult to do along Colorado’s front range. The mountain streams and regular sunshine provide an ideal environment for farmers to do their best work. Be sure to check out Colorado’s farmer’s markets and support local agriculture this summer.
